A Bride's Guide to the Perfect Wedding Video - Section 1 - Forget Uncle Bob
Ok, this seems obvious, but often times brides and grooms will omit this key participant from their wedding list, instead opting to have a relative record the day's events. While this may seem logical since the family member may have a digital video camera, it's like trying to use a garden hose to douse a four alarm fire. Some things to consider when using a family member.
  • Who will do the editing? Sometimes Uncle Bob will be willing to run around with his video camera during the day, catching shots of the dolled up braidsmaids along the way, but is he planning on editing the video for you as well?
  • Can one camera cover all of the events of the day? There is so much going on during the day, people all spread out, and catching the most important events takes more than one man.
  • Can the relative get adequate sound during the ceremony? (See point #6)
  • Will that relative be resentful of you? Sometimes Uncle Bob just wants to hang out at the cash bar all evening. So he may opt to either give you a half finished video, or suck it up and not talk to you at Thanksgiving (hmmm, maybe that's not such a bad idea after all).
