A Bride's Guide to the Perfect Wedding Video - Section 6 - Been Seen & Heard
Your video should not be a silent homage to your love, do the following three things to prevent your video from being a silent film:
  1. Make sure your videographer uses a wireless microphone on the groom or officiant to ensure you get the clearest audio possible during the vows and events of the ceremony. You also want to make sure that your videographer uses a UHF diversity microphone. That's just a fancy term for a wireless mic that won't pick up a truck driver's CB conversation about his latest tag art on a bathroom stall at the local truck stop.
  2. You'll also want to make sure that the videographer is using a shotgun or boom microphone throughout the day. This will give you more directional sound and block out a lot of the ambient noise that an onboard camera microphone has.
  3. Finally ask to make sure that the videographer (and the facility) has the ability to take an audio feed from the sound board. This should be recorded to either a camera or a digital audio recorder to make sure that you can pick up all of the sound from the ceremony.
